Romantic Wedding at The Symes

Welcome to Sabrina & Shane’s wedding story. It’s about to get reeaaaal good!

Let’s start right at the beginning. It’s important for me to have a free flowing conversation with every couple before joining forces - ideally over coffee or Facetime. I pick up a lot of small details based on people’s body language, how we interact, their dynamic, it’s all so crucial to making sure we’re the right fit. The moment I met with Sabrina & Shane to chat about their downtown Toronto wedding, I realized how refreshingly open and heartfelt they both are. Happy tears were involved. I was inspired by their dynamic chemistry and instantly adored them.

Fast forward half a year later, their dream wedding happened and it was everything I knew it would be. Full of flair, romance and warmth. Their wedding was a true reflection of who they are. They did a first look (where the couple sees each other privately before the ceremony happens) at OBJX studio and then they got married right next door at The Symes. It’s an industrial venue in the heart of Toronto’s stockyards district. It matched their downtown vibes perfectly - they live in an industrial loft and couldn’t imagine getting married at any other type of venue like a hotel or banquet hall. The officiant was a dear old family friend and they wrote their own vows. There was live music (always encourages everyone to get off their butts and dance) and food that they’ve grown to love together, like Craig’s Cookies that were featured at their late night cookie bar! The romantic vibes were enhanced by the moody decor both at the ceremony and reception. I typically don’t prioritize photos of material things like the reception tables because I’m a firm believer in focusing on people and emotions above all else. If I’m spending time photographing products, that’s time taken away from photographing genuine moments elsewhere. All that being said, I felt that the decor really explored the romantic side of their relationship so I’m incorporating some of those photos in order to tell their story properly. Huge shout out to all of the talented vendors who helped make this wedding so magical (vendor credit below) as well as Jessilynn Wong who was a tremendous help as my second photographer!

Sabrina and Shane, you two complement one another perfectly and I’m SO happy for you both. Thanks for letting me into one of the most important days of your lives - I’m beyond grateful.
Sending you both a ginormous amount of love xx
