Heartfelt Malibu wedding at Calamigos Ranch

Two artistic souls - Roxie & Dave - tied the knot at Calamigos Ranch this past November in the most beautiful way - with intention behind every part of their day. Now writing this several months after their wedding, what really sticks out to me is both the bigger picture and the tiniest of details. During their ceremony (which took place at the Red Room at Calamigos Ranch), I couldn’t help but feel SO moved by the collective energy of all 225 loved ones present. People in the front and people in the back were all crying tears of joy. They chose to have an unplugged ceremony (no digital devices were present) which definitely amplified how present everyone was. You could feel it - it was electric. A huge emphasis was placed on music as it’s an important part of Roxie & Dave’s life (Dave’s a professional guitarist) - so live music was happening left right and center, all performed by various friends + fellow band members (with epic cameos by Dave himself at the end of the night).

Brief moments and the tiniest of details had so much beauty in them too. In the morning, Roxie & her friend quietly spent time performing a small palo santo ritual at the ceremony alter, praying for good vibes. The pre-ceremony refreshments looked like magical potions (butterfly blue pea iced tea), Tables were totems instead of numbers--ie The Golden Eagles, The Tree Frogs, Wolf, etc, and the date of their wedding was chosen intentionally too. Roxie wrote to me prior to their wedding that:

1. November is special to us, it is when we first got together--and we love Thanksgiving & gratitude holidays
2. It is between our birthdays--me 10/16 and Dave 12/16
3. The full moon is on the 12th and I wanted to have the wedding on a waxing moon or on the full moon
4. According to the Secret Language of Birthdays(if you don't know it, check it out, it's free!
www.sln.me) haha, November 10, 2019 is the Day of Tender Metamorphosis, the Week of Depth, the Way of Tenderness, the Path of Tender Depth, the Month of The Enforcer, the Season of Maintenance -- all of which resonate perfectly!!!

I wanted to highlight how the bigger picture felt, and how the smaller details of their day added so much value too. I hope these photos show just that - how much heart there was in every part of their wedding day, big and small. A huge thank you to all of the incredible vendors who made magic happen, especially my second photographer Isaiah McLean who killed it. Every single person involved was a joy to work with, they’re all linked below.
