Dreamy wedding at Summer Star Ranch in Helena, Montana

I’m absolutely honoured to have connected with Aislinn & Roy for their wedding in Roy’s hometown of Helena, Montana earlier this summer. They’ve both travelled an incredible amount and lived around the world. Not to mention, Aislinn grew up in Juneau, Alaska! But Helena is where they’ve made their first home together (with the sweetest fur baby, Bowie) and I love that they got married in a place with that type of sentimental meaning. Their wedding at Summer Star Ranch was dreamy and one for the books! After their wedding, I asked Aislinn & Roy four questions. Here’s what they had to say -

What do you love about living in Helena?
We love being so close to the mountains - we can walk out our back door and be on a trail within two minutes, which is so great since we have a very energetic dog who needs a TON of exercise. We also love traveling around Montana and hitting up all the small ski areas during the winter. We have a great group of friends here; Helena's a small town but with a great sense of community. People here are extremely friendly and helpful.

What do you remember most about your day?
Aislinn: That's a tough one - everything was so magical! It was wonderful having all our friends in family in one spot to celebrate with us, and it's hard to pick just one memory. Walking back down the aisle after the ceremony together is definitely up there though - we were so happy!
Roy: I agree. It was a feeling of elation and happiness getting married to Aislinn surrounded by friends and family. I loved the barn party later too, it was the perfect Montana experience near the woods with a late night fire and star gazing. We somehow ended up with an excess of alcohol so we even broke out more champagne late-night and passed it around and kept the party going . Everyone had a good time, there was late-night hair cutting antics, s'mores by fire, and lots of crazy dancing to early 2000's tracks.

Why did you choose me as your wedding photographer?
We were so lucky to come across your photos when a friend posted them on social media. We love your style and ability to capture great candid moments, and were won over after a "get-to-know-you" Skype date. We are definitely glad we made that decision! We absolutely love every one of our photos, and all our guests felt so comfortable with you.

Any advice for future couples getting married?
Don't rush things! We had a two-year engagement, and we're so glad we had so much time to plan. Also, we were so glad we decided to hire a day-of coordinator; we were fine planning everything on our own, but since our reception was in a different location from our ceremony, there's no way we could have done the setup ourselves.
